A collection of items relating to The Beatles' "Butcher" cover of their 1966 album Yesterday and Today . The collection of items includes two Roger Whitaker photographs from this photoshoot; two alternate color images of The Beatles from this photoshoot; a collage of nine images from the photoshoot and "Butcher" album cover; an alternate mock-up of the "Butcher" album cover design; four negative separations for color printing of the "Butcher" album cover marked M, K, C, and Y respectively; two four-color scheme proofs that when placed on top of each other create the full color image of the "Butcher" cover; a proof image of an alternate advance cover without the title text; six color images of the final "Butcher" album cover design; two color slicks of the album cover as it was finally released to the public with the "White Trunk" cover, one with a red RIAA emblem. Also present is a photocopy of the Capitol Records letter sent to reviewers who received advance copies of the Yesterday and Today album with the "Butcher" cover explaining that the album cover was being discarded in favor of another design and requesting the return of the album.
