A typed and signed letter address to Claude Gordon from his instructor Hebert L. Clarke. Dated October 2nd, 1936. In this one page letter Clarke explains “The secret of success is knowing just HOW to practice, WHEN and WHAT to improve. Clarke then goes on to details some of his specific techniques he recommends for practice. Clarke was the largest musical influence in Gordon’s life and Gordon used this letter to show to his students when teaching, showing Gordon’s lasting respect for Clarke.
