A Spalding Official National League Baseball (Frick) used in batting and/or fielding practice and signed on-site at the 1949 All-Star game held at Ebbets Field in Brooklyn, New York. The baseball has been signed by 27 All-Star players from both the American and National Leagues including Jackie Robinson, Joe DiMaggio, Roy Campanella, Ted Williams, Stan Musial, Yogi Berra, Warren Spahn, Red Schoendienst, George Kell, Ralph Kiner, Pee Wee Reese, Johnny Mize, Andy Pafko, Cass Michaels, Sid Gordon, Marty Marion, Vic Raschi, Willard Marshall, Bob Dillinger, Walker Cooper, Andy Seminick, Vic Wertz, Dom DiMaggio, Dale Mitchell, Joe Gordon, Alex Kellner, and Billy Goodman. The ball is additionally signed by American League manager Lou Boudreau, National League coach Burt Shotton, and then Cleveland Indians pitcher Sam Zoldak. Of special note is the fact that the signature of Jackie Robinson, while still visible, has been crossed over with blue ink. 1949 marked the first season that African-American players were allowed to participate in the All-Star game.
