$320
A St. Louis Cardinals hat game worn by Bill White. Handwritten on the underside of the hat brim is White's number "12" in black marker. Stitched into the leather sweatband is a New Era manufacturer's tag, with hat size 7 1/8 stamped into the sweatband. Due to the fact that Whalen Monica, to whom White gave the hat directly, only ever attended the All-Star game and the World Series, it is believed that White wore this hat during either one of his eight All-Star game appearances from 1959 to 1964 (two All-Star games were played per season from 1959 to 1961) or during the 1964 World Series. Accompanied by a note handwritten by White on the backside of a World Series Pre-Game Notes sheet from October 16, 1988, during White's tenure as National League president that reads "Fred [Monica's son-in-law, who was in possession of the hat in 1988], "Keep the hat in/ a good place -/ Bill White."
