A costume sketch of Olivia de Havilland as Catherine Sloper in The Heiress (Paramount, 1949). Sketch is accomplished in mixed media on off-white-toned matte board. Handwritten in black pencil in upper left-hand corner is "Oliviae Havilland" also handwritten in black pencil in upper right-hand corner "The Heiress" lower right-hand corner boldly inscribed in black pencil "Edith Head." This sketch is from a later year than 1949. Back of sketch top right-hand corner is handwritten in black pencil "1949." de Havilland won the Academy Award for Best Actress in 1950 and Head won Best Costume Design in a Black and White film. 20 by 15 inches Categories:
