Important 8 day walnut longcase clock with latched pillar inside and gilt brass dial with winding holes to the matted center within an applied silvered Roman numeral chapter ring with stylized sword hilt half hour markers, Arabic five minutes to outer track and signed Wm. Barlow Lynn to lower edge, the angles applied with cast cherub mask spandrels, in a case with molded cornice, blind fret carved frieze and twist pilasters to hood above rectangular trunk door inset with circular lenticle to the base, on conforming plinth base. King's Lynn also known as Lynn, is a sea port and market town in the ceremonial county of Norfolk in the East of England. William Barlow is one of the earliest clockmakers in Norfolk and also a gunsmith, who was working there from 1693 and died in 1723. Only a handful of clocks are known by him.
