A falcon headdress worn by Elizabeth Taylor in Cleopatra (20th Century, 1963). The bird cradles the crown of Taylor's head between the wings and is composed of golden hand-etched and painted leather feathers with gold wire spines and embellished with opalescent plastic layered beneath the feathers and jet-like teardrop beads between the feathers. The 36th Annual Academy Award for Best Color Costume Design was awarded to Renie, Vittorio Nino Novarese and Irene Sharaff for Cleopatra . The scenes with Taylor in this piece did not make it to the final cut of the film. Accompanied by two black and white studio images of Taylor wearing the piece.
