A dark brown wig custom made for Natalie Wood in All the Fine Young Cannibals (MGM, 1960). Sydney Guilaroff was the hair stylist on this film. The wig is made of human hair and hand tied one strand of hair at a time to a lace mesh with silk bands in the interior to give the appearance of a scalp. Studio wigs at the time were custom made and fitted to measure by the star's head and hairline. An MGM label reads "849" with the original box, labeled "849 N.Wood Dk brown," and a corresponding MGM wig stock record card typed "849 Natalie Wood Dark Brown 4" Prod. #1764." The wig stock record has notes of the wig being checked out for three additional uses after the original production: "6-27-63 Taken by Mr. Guilaroff for Natalie Wood," probably for Sex and the Single Girl (Warner Bros., 1964); "9-16-63 sent to Factors for Connie Francis sample" and "11-3-69 1881," possibly used in The Strawberry Statement (MGM, 1970). The wig was acquired from MGM upon the closure of its hair and wig department. Accompanied by a canvas wig block and an image of Wood in the same or similar style wig. Categories:
