A Jack Dempsey signed postcard, inscribed “Lots of love Jack Dempsey. ” Dempsey was a friend and trainer to Rudolph Valentino. Prior to his death, Valentino was battling unflattering newspaper articles. One unsigned editorial from the Chicago Tribune particularly angered the star and he went to a rival Chicago paper to issue a “duel” in a boxing ring.
