A light grey wig custom made for Spencer Tracy for an unknown MGM production. The wig is made of human hair and hand tied one strand of hair at a time to a lace mesh with silk bands in the interior to give the appearance of a scalp. Studio wigs at the time were custom made and fitted to measure by the star's head and hairline. An MGM label reads "1086" and a Max Factor label reads "F3827" with an MGM wig stock record card believed to have been created and dated after Tracy ended his career with MGM. The card reads "Stock No. 1086 date 5-10-66, S. Tracy Lt. Grey Modern Shingle." It is noted that the wig was refronted on 7-19-66. The wig was acquired from MGM upon the closure of its hair and wig department. Accompanied by an original Spencer Tracy wig box, not corresponding to this wig, that reads "948A Grey-Brown-Modern Shingle S.Tracey[sic]" and a Styrofoam wig block. Categories:
