A light auburn wig custom made for Esther Williams in Fiesta (MGM, 1947). The wig is made of human hair and hand tied one strand of hair at a time to a lace mesh with silk bands in the interior to give the appearance of a scalp. Studio wigs at the time were custom made and fitted to measure by the star's head and hairline. An MGM label reads "561," and a Max Factor Studios label reads "9605" with a corresponding MGM wig stock record card typed "561 DBLE. E. Williams Lt. auburn 9" Prod. #1371." The wig was acquired from MGM upon the closure of its hair and wig department. Accompanied by a canvas wig block and a copy of the film. Categories:
