A dark brown wig custom made for Joan Collins in her role in The Opposite Sex (MGM, 1956). The wig is made of human hair and hand tied one strand of hair at a time to a lace mesh with silk bands in the interior to give the appearance of a scalp. Studio wigs at the time were custom made and fitted to measure by the star's head and hairline. An MGM label reads "795," and a Max Factor Studios label reads "M4359219" with a corresponding MGM wig stock record card typed "795 Joan Collins Dk. Brown 3" Prod. #1688." Sydney Guilaroff was the hair stylist on this film. The wig stock card indicates that the wig was later used in the Elvis Presley film Kissin' Cousins (MGM, 1964) and was refronted in 1966. The wig was acquired from MGM upon the closure of its hair and wig department. Accompanied by a canvas wig block and a copy of the film. Categories:
