An ecru with handpainted silver striping period costume worn by Joan Fontaine as Dona St. Columb, an aristocratic English woman who falls in love with a French pirate in Frenchman's Creek (Paramount, 1944). The costume comprises a polonaise with boned and corseted bodice with puffed sleeves with organdy and re-embroidered lace to interior and attached draped overskirt with a Paramount label that reads "J.Fontain [sic]"; a full skirt with decorative ruching to the graduated hemline and a Paramount label inscribed "J. Fontain [sic]"; and a small coin pouch. Costume design by Raoul Pene Du Bois. Accompanied by four black and white studio images of Fontaine in the costume.
