A gold lamé dance costume worn in Love Me or Leave Me (MGM, 1955), a biographical musical starring Doris Day as Ruth Etting. Day and five dancers wear dance costumes identical to this one. The costume comprises a bra top embellished with gold bullion cord work, rhinestones, sequin and beadwork, decorative trim, and beaded looped fringes; a pair of matching dance pants with heavy embellishment and a long fringed skirt; and a gold lamé headband with trim. A bias label in the bra top reads "Betty Uttie." The film was nominated for six Academy Awards and won one. Accompanied by a copy of the film. Previously exhibited at the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas and at The Sharon Landa Gallery in Hollywood, California, 1971.
