A laurel green silk brocade skirt with gold lamé floral springs worn by Norma Shearer as the title character in her Academy Award nominated role in Marie Antoinette (MGM, 1938). The skirt was part of a fur trimmed gown Shearer wears while discussing The Affair of the Diamond Necklace, a historic event that was one of the causes ultimately leading to the French Revolution. Costume design by Adrian. Accompanied by the original silver lamé double-layered lace cuffs, three pieces of silver lamé lace and gold lamé point de esprit with snaps, identical to the under layer of the cuffs as well as a copy of the film. Previously displayed at The Sharon Landa Gallery in Hollywood, California, 1971.
