An ivory silk damask corset worn by Norma Shearer as the title character in her Academy Award nominated role in Marie Antoinette (MGM, 1938). The boned corset has a petal pink floral spring motif and is embellished with ecru re-embroidered lace with scalloped edges, ruched ribbon work and a decorative cream satin ribbon that laces up the center front. The corset is worn by Marie Antoinette as she prepares to flee Paris. Costume design by Adrian. Accompanied by a copy of the film. Additionally, featured in the American Movie Classics documentary The Hollywood Fashion Machine : Faded Sequins , Tattered Dreams , Saving Hollywood's Classic Costumes (AMC, 2000).
