An Oakland Athletics hat game worn by Reggie Jackson. Handwritten on the underside of the hat brim is "9/Buck" in black marker. Jackson earned the moniker "Mr. October" later in his career, but was nicknamed "Buck" and "Jax" in Oakland. The hat features an embroidered Oakland "A's" logo with a New Era Pro Model manufacturer's tag on the interior sweatband. Size 7 1/4 flap tag also present. Due to the fact that the only baseball games Whalen Monica, to whom Jackson gave the hat, ever attended were the All-Star game and the World Series, this hat is believed to have been worn by Jackson during either one of his All-Star game appearances from 1971 to 1975 or during the 1973 or 1974 World Series. Jackson did not play with his Oakland teammates in the 1972 World Series due to a torn hamstring suffered in the 1972 ALCS. PROVENANCE From the Collection of Whalen "Whaley" Monica Categories:
