A collection of documents from the personal files of John Calley relating to the production of the cult classic film The Loved One (Filmways Pictures, 1965) Including a scathing letter from the film's producer and cinematographer Haskell Wexler critiquing the final cut; an original telegram from Warhol film star Jane Holzer stating that the entire New York underground is "zonked" by the film; a letter from the National Association of Approved Morticians requested a pre-release screening of the film for their upcoming semi-annual convention in Las Vegas; and a host of additional correspondence and memos concerning the production. Also includes a first printing of Terry Southern's book "The Journal of The Loved One: The Production Log of a Motion Picture" (Random House, NY, 1965) illustrated with on-set and behind the scenes photographs.
