A short-necked violin used by Jack Benny for a stage gag in his 1963 one-man show on Broadway. Inscribed on the back "To Jerry from Jack Benny." The sight gag involved Benny telling the audience that he had a beautiful Stradivarius and asked if they would like to hear him play it. When Benny called for the violin, it was thrown to him from off-stage by the stage manager, Jerry Adler, and it would fall at Benny's feet and break. Scroll and one tuner peg show signs of being repeatedly glued back on to the fiddle. PROVENANCE From the Collection of Jerry Adler Approximate length, 22 inches Categories: Jack Benny
