The Baltimore Orioles line-up card filled out and used by then Orioles Manager Earl Weaver for the team's May 30, 1982, game against the Toronto Blue Jays that took place at Memorial Stadium in Baltimore, Maryland. The game is of historical significance because it marked the beginning of Cal Ripken Jr.'s Major League Baseball record 2,632 consecutive games played streak. Ripken's streak would begin on this day and continue over a more than 16-year period until Ripken voluntarily ended the streak by sitting out the Orioles' last home game of the 1998 season on September 20, 1998. Lou Gehrig was the previous holder of the record for consecutive games played with 2,130. Gehrig's record stood for 56 years with many believing his record to be unbreakable. Ripken broke Gehrig's record by playing his 2,131st consecutive game on September 6, 1995. The line-up card reads "1982 Official Batting Order/ Baltimore" at the top. Orioles Manager Weaver has dated the top corner "5/30/82" and listed the players in their batting order on one side of the sheet, with his available bench players listed on the opposite side. Ripken is listed as 8th in the batting order and playing third base. The line-up card has been signed by Weaver in blue pen.
