A B. C. Rich Bich Double Neck 4/8 string bass guitar used by Harry Shearer, who plays Derek Smalls, bassist for heavy metal band Spinal Tap in This is Spinal Tap (Spinal Tap Productions, 1984). Smalls plays the guitar during Spinal Tap's performance of "Big Bottom." Serial number 84251. The guitar is housed in a hardshell B.C. Rich case. Accompanied by a copy of the film and two typed, signed letters of authenticity: the first from Mal Stitch, vice president of B.C. Rich Guitars from 1974 to 1984, stating that he loaned the guitar to Rob Reiner's production company for use in the film and that the guitar was eventually refurbished by B.C. Rich; the second from Neal Moser, designer of the B.C. Rich Bich guitar, who states that upon studying the "grain patterns and neck carve angle," he can confirm that the guitar is the Double Neck Bich bass that was featured in the film. Categories:
