A collection of three sketches by Rick Griffin relating to promotional materials for the 1990 two-day concert Gathering of the Tribes produced by Ian Astbury of The Cult and Bill Graham. The first drawing is a roughed out mixed media on tracing paper sketch of hands linked in a circle surrounded by a necklace, feathers, and musical instruments with the lettering "A Gathering of The Tribes." Framed. The second is an ink on tracing paper outline of the graphic. The third is an ink on paper sketch of the same graphic. This incarnation of A Gathering of the Tribes was conceived by Astbury as a way to raise awareness about Native American issues. The diverse lineup included, among others, Soundgarden, Iggy Pop, The Charlatans UK, The Indigo Girls, Ice-T, The Cramps, Public Enemy, Queen Latifah, and Joan Baez.
