A seat back from the original Yankee Stadium in The Bronx, New York. The blue plastic seat back is numbered "3." the most notable player to have worn uniform number 3 for the Yankees is the legendary Babe Ruth. Ruth is widely considered one or, if not the, greatest baseball players in teh history of the game. Ruth set copious amounts of statistical records during his career, some of which still stand today. Ruth was credited with revitalizing the Yankees in the 1920's, leading Yankee Stadium to be called "The House That Ruth Built" upon its opening in 1923. Ruth was a 12-time American League (AL) home run champion, a seven-time World Series Champion, and the 1923 AL MVP. Ruth was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame as a member of its inaugural class in 1936. Ruth's uniform number 3 was retired by the Yankees on June 14, 1948. Affixed to the seat back is a plaque that reads "Yankee Stadium/ April 18, 1923 - September 21, 2008." The seat back was used in, and removed from, the original Yankee Stadium in 2008. The seat back is manufactured by American Seating of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Affixed to the seat back is a Major League Baseball numbered hologram.
