A custom suit circa 1970s designed for James Brown by Curtis A. Gibson. The suit comprises a brown and tan leather and denim waistcoat embellished with gold tone studs and mirrors with "JB" to the back and a pair of matching trousers. A label reads "Made especially for you by Curtis Gibson." Gibson explained in an article written by Dwayne Cheeks and published in The Plain Dealer on October 3, 1986, that he wanted to design an ensemble that would impress Brown and obtain him as a client. "Gibson said, "I thought about things and designed a leather and denim suit for Brown. It had tiny mirrors and studs on it. Brown flipped out when he saw it." Obtained from the collection of Danny Ray, Brown's "Cape Man" and emcee. Categories: James Brown
