A plaque awarded to James Brown in 1969. A gold tone engraved plaque affixed to a wood shield base, reads in full, “To/ Mr. James Brown/ And/ His Entire Show Cast/ We The Rythum [sic] and Blues/ Citizens of/ Des Moines, Iowa/ Thank you/ A Million Times/ For Providing Us/ With The Best In Live/ Entertainment/ Presented by/ Brewer Enterprises/ September 11, 1969.” Brown performed that day at Veterans Memorial Stadium, or “The Barn.” Obtained from the collection of Danny Ray, Brown's "Cape Man" and emcee. 10 by 7 1/2 inches Categories: James Brown
