French, 19th century. A pair of highly carved fine walnut winged confessional bergere chairs upholstered in ecru fabric, each chair with four tapering fluted legs on turned feet joined by a shaped apron bearing relief carving of rosettes and egg and dart, with padded serpentine arms having acanthine handgrips over bands of beading and overlapping acanthus leaves, bearing continuous bands of relief carving along top edges from arm to arm over the arcaded seat back with rosettes to top edge and beading and egg and dart to interior and exterior edges, with fitted down seat cushion. Provenance: Jacqueline Adams Antiques, Atlanta, Georgia, whereby acquired by a Private Collection, Atlanta, Georgia.
