A pair of original scripts from Steve McQueen's iconic racing film Le Mans (Cinema Center, 1971), often considered the greatest racing film ever made despite its production being marred by the lack of a definitive script. The first copy, comprised of unbound xerographed sheets, is titled "Tentative Continuity Stepsheet" and contains brief handwritten annotations to several pages. The second copy, comprised of unbound xerographed sheets, is titled "The 24 Hours of Le Mans/ Continuity/ by Harry Kleiner & Ken Purdy, June 18, 1970" and contains a hand-drawn map with an Esso gas station on the rear sheet. Includes three original crew sheets, two of which are dated May 20 and June 23, 1970, listing John Sturges as director, and one dated November 14, 1970, listing Lee Katzin as director, reflecting the fact that Sturges walked off the set of the troubled production and quit. Also included is a call sheet for Monday, June 22, 1970, which is designated as the first day of shooting. These items are from the personal collection of the film’s production designer and costume designer, Phil Abramson.
