Proserpio Achille (Italian (Milano), first half 20th century, circa 1934-44. An 800 silver six piece tea and coffee service comprising teapot, coffee pot, 2-piece tilting kettle with folding handle on lampstand, lidded sugar, creamer, and handled serving tray, each piece with panels or medallions of rocaille scroll repousse decoration on chased ground on scalloped body with molded flower blossom finials . Each piece marked to underside "800" within an oval cartouche and with "240 MI" flanking a fasces symbol within a cut lozenge cartouche. Teapot approximate height 9", spout to handle 10". Coffee pot approximate height 8", spout to handle 10". Kettle overall approximate height 18.75", width across spout 10.75". Creamer approximate height 5.25", spout to handle 6.25". Sugar approximate height 4.875", width across handles 5.75". Tray approximate width 29.75", depth 18.5". Total approximate weight at least 266 troy ounces. Note: a nearly identical service sold for $10,000 at Sotheby's, New York, on April 16, 2015 as lot 189.
