A group of items worn by five-time boxing world champion Johnny Tapia for his Bantamweight fight against Eduardo Alvarez held at York Hall in Bethnal Green, London, United Kingdom, on January 19, 2002. The group includes the robe Tapia wore for the fight; the robe features silver sequin and silver cord accents throughout, over the black lamé main robe fabric. Stitched into the right cuff of the robe in silver lettering is "JOHNNY," and stitched into the left cuff in silver lettering is "TAPIA." The robe features two front pockets and a hood with a drawstring. Stitched into the back of the robe in silver lettering is "JOHNNY TAPIA/ MI VIDA LOCA" surrounding an image of a crown. Also included in the group are the boxing trunks worn by Tapia for the fight. The trunks are made of the same black lamé fabric as the robe, with similar silver sequin over silver cord accents. Stitched into the front of the waistband of the trunks is "TAPIA" in silver lettering. Stitched into the bottom front right leg is "M-A-M-A/ 1942-1975" in silver embroidered lettering. Stitched into the bottom front left leg is "JOHNNY TAPIA/ NEW MEXICO" surrounding the repeating crown from the back of the robe. Stitched into the back waistband of the trunks is "MI VIDA LOCA" in silver lettering. Tapia has signed the trunks in silver marker.
