$75,000
Serial number 163145 - 1967 Fender Jazzmaster, owned by Don Wilson, one of the original founding members of The Ventures. The guitar is all original with two pickups, two tone switches, factory Jazzmaster tailpiece, sunburst, stamped "Demo" above the plate, "Demo" again on the body right below the plate, together with the sticker covered original hardshell case and 34 photos. There is significant play wear on the body. The guitar was originally a gift from Fender when they noticed a large spike in sales after The Ventures were seen playing a Jazzmaster. In the 35 years that Wilson played the Jazzmaster with The Ventures, it was his favorite guitar. He played it from 1967 to 2002 at all live shows, all recordings, all TV shows, and on DVDs. It was this guitar that was played in the studio while recording "Hawaii Five-0," one of the most recognizable TV themes of all time, and it played many hits such as "Walk Don't Run," "Wipeout," "Pipeline," and "Perfidia," to name a few. The guitar was displayed at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame after the band was inducted in 2008. Wilson has been the rhythm guitar player in The Ventures since the band formed in 1958 and still tours with the band. Categories:
