A deep pink satin gown worn by Madonna in her 1985 music video for "Material Girl" and inspired by the Travilla gown created for Marilyn Monroe while performing “Diamonds are a Girls Best Friend” in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (20th Century, 1953). The gown was originally created for the biopic Goodbye , Norma Jean (Austamerican Productions, 1976) based on the life of Monroe and later borrowed from the costume house for the Madonna video. The figure flattering gown has boning to the strapless bodice, gathering in the skirt with a high center back slit, and a large bow lined in black organza attached to the belt. A Palace Costume label is present. The gown was rented for productions following the Madonna video and was altered accordingly. The alterations were documented by head Tailor of Eastern Costume Company including the restorations he did to restore it to the state worn by Madonna in the video. Accompanied by a pair of pink satin gloves that may have been original to the costume. Also comes with a history restoration document signed by Gilberto Guzman, head tailor at Eastern Costume Company, and a copy of a letter of authenticity signed by Melody Barnett of Palace Costume Company.
