$1,000
A military hat worn by Tyrone Power as Capt. Alan King in the motion picture King of the Khyber Rifles (20th Century, 1953). The cream canvas hat has a black brim with black strap and buttons on front. An internal Western Costume Company label is inscribed in black ink “Ty Powers [sic].” Unlike the hat that was primarily worn during indoor scenes, this hat was worn in numerous outdoor scenes, evidenced by its construction. King of the Khyber Rifles , based on the novel of the same name, follows the story of Capt. Alan King (Power), a Pashtun-born Sandhurst-trained officer charged with the task of training and commanding the native cavalry. Released by 20th Century-Fox, the film was one of the first shot in Technicolor CinemaScope. Costume design by Travilla. Accompanied by a letter of authenticity and a copy of the film.
