A period dress shirt worn by Steve McQueen as Dr. Thomas Stockmann in the motion picture An Enemy of the People (Warner Bros., 1978). The ivory long-sleeve shirt has blue and rust pinstripes and a rounded collar with wood buttons. An internal typed Western Costume label reads “2421-2 Steve McQueen Sleeve 33,” and “595” is written on the collar in ink. A Western Costume stamp is also present. McQueen wore this shirt throughout the film, specifically while at his office checking on a patient. This dramatic film follows a scientist, Thomas Stockmann, who stands against an entire town when he discovers their medicinal spa is polluted. Costume design by Noel Taylor.
