A brown vest, a tie, belt, long-sleeve shirt, lab coat, and pager worn by George Gaynes as John Van Horn in the motion picture Tootsie (Columbia, 1982) starring Dustin Hoffman, Jessica Lange, and Geena Davis. “Gaynes” is inscribed in black ink to the inner tag of the shirt. Gaynes wears this outfit when he and Dorothy Michaels (Hoffman) do their first scene together for the fictional soap opera Southwest General . Tootsie was nominated for numerous Academy Awards in 1983, and Jessica Lange won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her work on the film. Costume design by Ruth Morley.
