A shirt worn by Kate Hudson’s character Penny Lane in the Academy Award-winning film Almost Famous (Columbia, 2000) also starring Patrick Fugit and Billy Crudup. The vintage 1960s shirt is constructed out of a red linen material with a pin-tucked bib front and geometric white embroidered trim. Hudson is first seen wearing this shirt while the young journalist William, portrayed by Fugit, is speaking to his mother, portrayed by Frances McDormand, on a payphone. His mother is upset that he will not make it to his graduation, which he agreed to be home for. Penny interrupts William’s conversation to introduce a “Band-Aid” groupie to him, confusing him and leaving the girls giggling as he seemingly says “I love you too” to them, instead of to his mother. Almost Famous earned Cameron Crowe an Academy Award for Best Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen in 2001 and featured an outstanding performance by newcomer Fugit, and both Hudson and McDormand received Oscar nominations for Best Supporting Actress for their work on the film. Costume designer Betsy Heimann received an award for Excellence in Costume Design for Film (Period/Fantasy). Accompanied by a letter of authenticity and a copy of the film. Categories: Kate Hudson
