A costume worn by Richard Dreyfuss as President Alphonse Simms in the motion picture Moon over Parador (Universal, 1988). The costume is constructed of a grey wool material and with red trim on the cuffs. The insignia, seen on the costume in the film, was removed for use in another production. Internal labels inscribed "DREYFUSS" are present in both garments. Together with a military hat worn by Dreyfuss’ character. The hat was custom made for Dreyfuss to wear for promotional images and was ultimately not used on screen. The hat band and crown was extended five inches to allow room for the oversized gold cap device. The inside of the hat was reinforced with metal caging and a special lining to allow a pigeon to land and perch on top of the hat. There are holes and evidence of bird poop that occurred while filming the famous scene. The cap device that accompanies this hat was used on the background guards and not by Dreyfuss. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity, a studio image, and a copy of the film. Categories: Richard Dreyfuss
