A vest worn by Meg Ryan as Pamela Courson in the biopic The Doors (Carolco, 1991). The Indian peasant vest is constructed out of rust colored velvet with gold brocade design and mirror insets. Ryan wears this vest during The Doors’ first appearance at Whisky a Go Go. Costume production hold tag reads “worn in The Doors, Meg Ryan.” The Doors was directed and written by Oliver Stone and co-written by Randall Johnson. The film starred Val Kilmer and Meg Ryan, and is a biopic about the 1960-1970s rock band of the same name, emphasizing the life of lead singer Jim Morrison, portrayed by Val Kilmer. The film depicts Morrison as the larger-than-life icon of the 1960s rock and roll counterculture and the drug-using free love hippie lifestyle. Costume design by Marlene Stewart.
