A gold tone helmet worn by Tommy Lee Jones as Clay Shaw in JFK (Warner Bros. , 1991) directed by Oliver Stone. The World War I pith helmet has two bird wings attached and braided hat band and is spray painted gold. The helmet was worn in the flashback sequence when Garrison is interviewing Clay Shaw (Jones) regarding his relationship with Willie O'Keefe, portrayed by Kevin Bacon, and David Ferrie, portrayed by Joe Pesci. Garrison relays information about a party that occurred in Shaw's home in the French Quarter. Shaw, Ferrie, and O'Keefe dressed up in costumes; Shaw wore this helmet and a loin cloth and was painted gold. Costume design by Marlene Stewart. JFK is a political thriller starring Jones, Gary Oldman and Kevin Costner. The film examines the events leading up to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy and the subsequent cover-up through the eyes of former New Orleans District Attorney Jim Garrison, portrayed by Costner. The film was nominated for eight Academy Awards, including Best Picture, and it won for Best Cinematography and Best Film Editing. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity and a copy of the film.
