A two-piece skirt suit worn by Carroll Baker as Sylvia West in the title role of the motion picture Sylvia (Paramount, 1965), also starring George Maharis and Peter Lawford. The wardrobe was designed by Academy Award-winning costume designer Edith Head. The ensemble is constructed of beige silk and consists of a jacket with three-quarter-length sleeves and hook and eye closure at the bust and a matching knee-length skirt. The interiors of both garments are lined with beige china silk and have an internal Paramount Pictures labels that reads “Caroll [sic] Baker.” Baker wore the ensemble when Sylvia attends an annual flower show with Alan Macklin, portrayed by Maharis, unaware that he is actually a private investigator hired to look into her background on the behalf of her wealthy fiancé. The jacket was originally worn with a tied string bow in the front that was removed when the jacket was used in a subsequent production. Accompanied by a letter of authenticity. Categories:
