Silver gelatin print of Marilyn Monroe by Milton H. Greene, 1956. “Black Sitting” A.P. signed by photographer in lower right hand corner. Milton Greene was born in New York in 1922. He began taking photographs at age 14. Although given a scholarship at Pratt Institute, he did not graduate, preferring to apprentice under the well known photojournalist Eliot Elisofon. Milton’s love of fashion photography led him to assist Louise Dahl-Wolfe who was famous for her covers and layouts for Harper’s Bazaar. He quickly distinguished himself and at the age of 23 was described as “Color Photography’s Wonder Boy.” Yellowing around edges of paper.
