One note addressed “darling” informs Monroe of a present Rosenfeld purchased for her on the occasion of her birthday. He closes the note, “I want you to be happy above everything else in the world. Always and always, Henry.” Henry Rosenfeld, a wealthy New York dress manufacturer, met Marilyn in 1955. They became close and at some point he proposed to Monroe.
