Four vintage black and white copies of Mary Pickford and Buddy Rogers seated on a couch. This photograph was taken in 1937 by George Hurrell. Hurrell began his art career by drawing and painting but moved into photography in the late 1920s, and it quickly became his primary medium. His use of light and composition reflect his education in drafting and painting. In 1930, Hurrell was hired as the head of MGM’s Portrait Gallery and inspired a genre of photography aptly named, Glamour Photography.
