Original, vintage blueprint titled “Fantasy Land Castle Superstructure” that details the upper floor exterior elevations of Disneyland’s Sleeping Beauty Castle. Labeled “Disneyland Inc.,” this blueprint was executed by “WED Enterprises, Inc.” The blueprint is dated “Feb. 12, 1955” and is filled with architectural details and notes documenting the second floor of the castle, its towers, and the chapel’s spire and flying buttresses. Over interior plans, “Omit Int.” has been written in facsimile noting the walkthrough attraction that was planned for Disneyland’s opening day in July 1955 had been cancelled. “Scene” locations are noted as well as the two “Access Door” entrances needed for scene maintenance. These upper floor “Scene” spaces would later be used in Ken Anderson and Eyvind Earle’s 1957 attraction, the Sleeping Beauty Castle Walkthrough, and showcase scenes in which Princess Aurora and the kingdom’s court would be placed in a magical slumber.
