A 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympic Torch used by Evander Holyfield to run his leg of the 2002 Olympic Torch Relay. Holyfield ran his leg of the relay on December 4, 2001, which was the second day of the relay, but the first day the Olympic Flame had been in the USA. On December 3, 2001 the Olympic Flame was transported via air from Athens, Greece to Atlanta, GA. The 2002 Olympic Torch is modeled after an icicle with a slight curve that is meant to represent speed and fluidity. The torch contains three sections; the top section made of glass, meant to echo the slogan of the 2002 games of "Light The Fire Within," containing a copper framework to hold the flame, the center section made of silver that has been treated to look older and worn, and the bottom section made of polished sliver. The center section is meant to represent the silver mining heritage of host state Utah, with the bottom section representing the future. The torch features a "Salt Lake 2002" logo on the top front of the middle section. The bottom silver section is engraved "light the fire within." Affixed to the back of the torch is a small clear round sticker displaying the number "089" Length, 33 inches Categories: Evander Holyfield
