A black and white Ariel view photograph of Pickfair (c. 1926) owned by Mary Pickford, with affixed sticker on verso reading in full: “Mary Pickford Will Sell Famed Home/Beverly Hills, Calif. – A view of Pickfair here, the famous home which Miss Pickford built in the flush of her happiness with Douglas Fairbanks, her second husband, and which will be sold. After her divorce from Fairbanks in 1934, Miss Pickford lost interest in the magnificent home, seldom residing there. The mansion, the name of which combines the first portions of Pickford and Fairbanks, has been the location for many prominent social functions; many European dignitaries having been entertained there during their visits to this country. This most recent picture was made June 26 from the Goodyear Airship Volunteer, as Miss Pickford and Charles (Buddy) Rogers were being married at a friend’s home. (6/29/57).” Contrary to the information stated here, Fairbanks and Pickford were divorced in January 1936, not 1934. Pickford resided in the mansion with her third husband, Buddy Rogers until her death in 1979. During her later years, she became reclusive and rarely received visitors. 8 ½ by 7 inches, matted and framed to 12 ½ by 12 inches. PROVENANCE: From the Estate of Mary Pickford. Categories: Mary Pickford
