Black and White photograph taken by Charles G. Hagedorn, 1954. Thousands crowded the New York street when it was discovered to be the location of a film shoot with Marilyn Monroe. It was to be one of the defining moments in Monroe's career. Newspaper reporters, including publisher Charles Hagedorn, watched as Marilyn stood above a subway grate while her backless, white pleated dress shot up around her during the filming of "The Seven Year Itch." A bittersweet moment, as some speculate it may have been the final straw in Monroe's marriage to Joe DiMaggio. 10 by 8 inches Categories: Marilyn Monroe
