Acrylics on a Les Paul Standard Gibson Electric Guitar. Carved AA maple top, mahogany back and neck with rosewood fingerboard, and BurstBucker Pro pickups. 39 by 13 inches Of this work, the artist says "I recreated the glossy black surface of an old LP and chose lyrics from songs that celebrate the people and places of Texas. I used my favorite colors, brown and powder blue (the country-est of colors!), the colors of sunsets and faded blue jeans." Melissa Brown is a true G.R.I.T. (Girl Raised in the South), originally from the piney woods of Alabama. "I’ve lived in Texas since ‘00. I’m inspired by everything Southern...its music, arts & crafts, and Do-It-Yourself attitude." "From drawing on the back covers of notebooks to painting on vinyl records, I’ve always loved putting my own touch on everyday objects. I adapted this idea to painting the Gibson guitar."
