Oil on a SG standard Gibson Electric Guitar. Mahogany neck and body, rosewood fingerboard, humbucking neck and bridge pick ups, signed by VARIOUS ARTISTS 990 mm by 330 mm Noel Paine is a London Based artist, working from a studio at Trinity Buoy Wharf, directly opposite the O2 on the river. His paintings are drawn from the surrounding East End and changing Dockland area. Where many London painters focus on Landmarks and 'great views', Paine takes us elsewhere, to the unobserved corners we see everyday but pass without thought. He captures the transitory nature of the urban landscape. Focusing on shape, colour, light and space, his work begins in the abstract and terminates in the figurative. www.noelpaine.com The artist says of this piece: "I have always been fascinated in trompe l'oeil art. The shape of the guitar seem to lend itself to that of an easel. I made drawings from my studio directly opposite the O2 at Trinity Buoy Wharf. From the drawings I made the painting, one at night and one during the day." Categories:
