A set of MacGregor golf clubs owned and used by Clark Gable. During the summer of 1953, Gable arranged his schedule so that he could travel to the UK to watch the British Open, known globally as "The Open," in person. After the tournament, Gable played several rounds of golf in England, Scotland, and France using this set of golf clubs. The set includes MacGregor Tommy Armour 3852MS Silver Scot Tourney irons, with irons two through nine as well as a pitching wedge. The set also features MacGregor Jimmy Demaret 1R32 W Tourney woods, with woods numbered one through four. The woods feature wood club heads and steel shafts. Also included is an A.G. Spalding & Bros. "Cash-In" putter. The clubs are carried in a MacGregor Tufhorse leather bag, featuring plaid head covers for the woods. Accompanying the clubs is a black and white photograph of Gable on a practice putting green holding the putter from this set. Watching him to his right is a young caddy holding his golf bag and clubs that are offered in this lot. Longest, 45 inches Categories:
