Ape appliance set made for Planet of the Apes (20th Century, 1968). Marked "BKO" for Buck Kartalian, the gorilla in charge of security at the animal hospital run by Dr. Zira, played by Kim Hunter. Directly from the collection of makeup artist John Chambers, who gifted it to his sister. This unused foam appliance was created for the film but not used, which accounts for its condition. The appliance is displayed, as it was on the set, on vacuformed lifemask of the actor portraying the character to help retain its shape. Accompanied by a copy of the film.
